PTC heater adhesive solution
Battery thermal management - Glue solution for PTC heaters The development of new energy vehicles represents a major transformation in automotive thermal management systems. Compared to traditional fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles have undergone changes in their power sources and have added the three-electric system, thus requiring a reconfiguration of thermal management for batteries, motors, and electronic control units.
Detailed introduction
Battery thermal management - PTC heater adhesive solution
(PTC) Heating Principle
Compared to traditional fuel vehicles, new energy pure electric vehicles cannot utilize the engine's residual heat, so they need to redesign the interior air conditioning system and battery heating system. The PTC heater becomes the solution, providing a heat source for the battery pack. Its structure includes a radiator (containing the PTC heating module), coolant flow channels, main control board, high-voltage connector, low-voltage connector, and upper shell, among other components, forming part of the thermal management system of new energy vehicles.

(PTC) Working Principle of Heater
Why do electric vehicles need (PTC) heaters?

At low temperatures, the electrical conductivity of the electrolyte decreases, and the impedance of the SEI film on the graphite negative electrode increases. If charging is carried out without heating in this situation, there will be two problems:
1. As soon as the charging voltage reaches the cut-off voltage, charging will stop.
2. Damages the battery and causes the formation of elemental substances on the negative electrode surface. This not only shortens the battery's lifespan but also poses certain safety risks.
It is generally believed that lithium-ion batteries below 0°C cannot be charged; they must be heated to 0°C or 5°C before charging can be performed.
The function of the PTC heater in the battery pack is to heat the battery to an appropriate working temperature range when the battery temperature is too low. This helps to reduce the internal resistance of the battery, increase its output power, and extend its service life. At the same time, by controlling the heating power of the PTC heater, the battery temperature can be maintained within a suitable range, avoiding damage caused by excessive heat or cold to the battery.
PTC heater adhesive solution
Jumie has effectively addressed the thermal management requirements of PTC heaters in high-temperature and high-power working environments by selecting high-performance sealing, conductive adhesives, and potting adhesives. This selection of a series of adhesives not only ensures the stability and reliability of the PTC heater but also enhances the durability of the system, providing reliable support for the development of the thermal management system in new energy vehicles.
